- Go to Settings > System
- Select "System Software"System
- Select "Reset Options"
- Select "Reset Your Console"
- Select "Reset"
Factory Reset (through safe mode / recovery mode)
- Turn off your console by pressing the power button. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.
- Once the system is off, press and hold the power button again. Release it after you hear the second beep — one beep will sound when you first press, and another seven seconds later.
- Connect the controller with the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.
- Now select the "Reset PS5" option to completely reset your Playstation 5 to it's factory state.
Safe Mode
- Turn off your console by pressing the power button. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.

- Connect the controller with the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.
- Restart PS5 - Ends Safe Mode and restarts the PS5 console normally.
- Change Video Output - Changes the display resolution, use this if you end up with a blank screen when your Playstation 5 starts.
- Update System Software - Allows you to update the PS5 system software via direct download or USB storage device.
- Restore Default Settings - Restores the PS5 console to the default factory settings. Restoring Default Settings will not delete the saved data on your system storage.
- Rebuild Database Creates a new database of all content on the system.
- Reset PS5 - Deletes all user data and restores the PS5 to its original state.
- Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software) - Deletes all user data and removes PS5 system software.
