Factory Reset (Through user Menus)

  1. Go to Settings > System
  2. Select "System Software"System
  3. Select "Reset Options"
  4. Select "Reset Your Console"
  5. Select "Reset"

Factory Reset (through safe mode / recovery mode)

  1. Turn off your console by pressing the power button. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.
  2. Once the system is off, press and hold the power button again. Release it after you hear the second beep — one beep will sound when you first press, and another seven seconds later.
  3. Connect the controller with the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.
  4. Now select the "Reset PS5" option to completely reset your Playstation 5 to it's factory state.

Safe Mode

Safe Mode Options/Recovery Menu

  • Restart PS5 - Ends Safe Mode and restarts the PS5 console normally.
  • Change Video Output - Changes the display resolution, use this if you end up with a blank screen when your Playstation 5 starts.
  • Update System Software - Allows you to update the PS5 system software via direct download or USB storage device.
  • Restore Default Settings - Restores the PS5 console to the default factory settings. Restoring Default Settings will not delete the saved data on your system storage.
  • Rebuild Database Creates a new database of all content on the system.
  • Reset PS5 - Deletes all user data and restores the PS5 to its original state.
  • Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software) - Deletes all user data and removes PS5 system software.
