Disable Samsung TV Plus

Whilst most manufacturers are now adding adverts to in TV Menus - Samsung appears to be some of the worst, follow the tips below to disable the TV Plus feature of Samsung TVs and to remove the in menu advertising.

Disable Samsung TV Plus (Quick Method)

Whilst this is the quickest method it does seem like after a software update or a power outage, sometimes TV Plus comes back !

  1. Turn the TV on.
  2. Press the home button.
  3. Navigate to the Samsung TV Plus app and press the down button on the remote. This will bring up two options. ‘Move’ and ‘Remove’.
  4. Navigate to "Remove" and press enter.
  5. Select "Disable" - this should delete the TV Plus channels and remove the app from the homescreen.

Disable Samsung TV Plus (Normal Method)

You can do this method without having to enter the service mode of your TV, you can also do it by using the standard smart remote that comes with most newer sets.

  1. Turn the TV on.
  2. Press the source button on the remote, and then select TV, if you've got no aerial plugged in you should see the TV Plus channels show on screen.
  3. Press the channel list button on your remote.
  4. Scroll to the top of the menu that shows up and select "Edit Channels"
  5. Select all of the TV Plus channels and then press delete.
  6. All TV Plus channels will now be removed, however there is a chance that they will come back.
  7. Press the source button on your remote, and scroll through until you see the "Apps" menu.
  8. Open the apps menu, and then click the options button.
  9. Select Lock/Unlock and enter your PIN code.
  10. Now select the TV Plus App and lock it - this may be called Rakuten. Locking the app means that it will no longer function.

Disable Samsung TV Plus (Service Menu Method)

In order to be able to access the service menu, you will need to have a Samsung Basic/Full Remote rather than the Samsung Smart remote which comes with some UHD TVs.

Please be very careful with the settings that you choose to adjust in the service menu, as some settings can cause irreparable damage and will render your set non functional.

  1. Start with the TV turned off.
  2. Enter the service mode code for your set.
    1. Typically on newer sets this is {INFO} + {MENU} + {MUTE} + {POWER} pressed in quick succession on the extended remote.

  3. Once in the service menu navigate to the "Options Menu".
  4. In the "Options Menu" select "Engineer Option".
  5. In the Engineers Option menu, you should be able to see a "TV Plus Support" - set this to off.
  6. Power off the TV to exit the service menu.
